For former governor Adebayo Alao Akala, our leader whom I have a lot of respect for, has no business contesting for the governorship position. Though he is yet to formally declare for the race, I think doing that, for him, will be akin to the late Olusola Saraki fighting for governorship post in 1999 with the late Muhammed Lawal and co; akin to Alhaji Balarabe Musa struggling with  Ahmed Makarfi and co in 1999. Gbajabiamila: "PDP Running Mentally Fatigued Government"

Following the recent disagreement between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria’s opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) over the exact role of the opposition in nation building, the leader of opposition in the House of Representatives, Hon. The PDP had earlier in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, referred to the APC as a political party acting like a rebel group driven by “frustration and bitterness.”
But Gbajabiamila, who is also APC leader in the House of Representatives, in a statement signed by his Research and Media Aide, Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart, yesterday in Abuja, expressed reservation over the inability of the federal government to decode the mood of its citizens who he claimed are brazenly against “a mentally fatigued government.”

According to him, the town had remained peaceful with people going about their daily activities without signs of fear or anxiety despite the presence of fully armed security operatives on the roads. One of the electoral observers present in town ahead of the polls, Mr Festus Okoye, expressed same view. His fear, however, was about the way the security agents would conduct themselves on the day, having arrived in large numbers.

The party, however, said it was not surprised at the ferocity of the attack by armed policemen on the peaceful members of the APC, as it fits perfectly into the desperation of President Goodluck Jonathan and his party to capture Ekiti State at all cost as a leeway to entering the South-west ahead of 2015.
